A living museum where the exhibit changes everyday...This 83-acre garden, established in 1938, is one of the world=s preeminent botanical gardens, with extensive collections of rare tropical plants including palms, cycads, orchids, heliconias, flowering trees and vines. Features include the 2-acre Richard H. Simons Rainforest, a 16,000-square-foot conservatory Windows to the Tropics, Gate House Museum of Plant Exploration, vine pergola, sunken garden, winding paths, 14 lakes, lily ponds, overlooks and vistas. Offers narrated tram tours, self guided tours, programs in environmental education, conservation and horticulture. Weekends are often highlighted by plants shows and sales. .

Come see the history - ride a narrated tram tour (offered hourly between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m.) through the world-famous Wray Botanical Collection, citrus groves, and Native Oak Hammocks. Enjoy a walking tour through a jungle of 100'-tall tropical trees, labeled and displayed for your intellectual curiosity. The Gardens come alive with Florida alligators, the antics of river otters, and colorful pink flamingos. Roam through the Everglades "free-flight" Aviary and come eye-to-eye with an American Bald Eagle and other birds of prey in our Everglades Wildlife Sanctuary. The "Wildlife Encounter" wildlife shows are presented daily at 12:30, 1:30 and 2:30 p.m.
